I can see where this would apply in a lot of areas in life, not just business. I can also see this as the new breakup line: “It’s just that our relationship is more valuable in pieces than it is whole.”

As for me, a dozen years ago I was just waking up to the idea that I didn’t have to take what was given to me and could even go after something entirely different if I wanted. That was true for career, love, and lifestyle. I’m now thousands of miles away from where I started – literally and figuratively – and the only thing I know is that I have thousands of miles still to go. But I’m so glad I learned to go off the map and make my own way. I’m a pretty good navigator!

At 20, I just began to learn about the intense and often intricate world of entrepreneurship a year ago – I couldn’t imagine how much courage it would take to jump into an ownership role in another year. Congratulations to you. I enjoy this post – yes, the parts are often worth more than the whole. One of the things I find most exciting about start-ups is the fact that they are so backwards, they ways in which they are built are so unique.
